First-Mile and Last-Mile Tracking Numbers
First-Mile TN
- The initial tracking number generated by the system when the order is still in the distribution stage in the Portless warehouse
- Note: Do NOT share this with your customers yet as tracking the order’s status using the first-mile TN will show the order origin (China/Vietnam). This is for internal use only.
- The first-mile TNs are listed on the Order Tracking Sheet
Last-Mile TN
- The final tracking number generated through the order’s local carrier
- Note: The tracking updates will only show on the last-mile carrier website once the order has been handed over to the last-mile carrier website.
- The last-mile TNs are listed on the Order Tracking Sheet
No Tracking Update: Basic Troubleshooting
You might encounter orders with no tracking updates. This usually happens when the order hasn’t been handed over to the last-mile carrier yet. No worries, such cases can easily be resolved by using the first-mile TN to track the status of the order instead of the last-mile TN.
Let’s take this tracking number for an order bound to the United States as an example: 9261290278833923655226. When checked using the USPS (official last-mile carrier) website, it shows that the latest update was August 9th.
On the other hand, using the first-mile TN YT2420121272124898 will show you the most up-to-date information regarding the order. The photo below shows us the update beyond August 9th.
